Explorations in MET: an ePortfolio
Mel Drake is currently a graduate student in the University of British Columbia's Master of Educational Technology program.
The purpose of this ePortfolio is to meaningfully reflect upon my learning, skills development, and exploration in emerging educational technologies to create an organized, coherent collection of artifacts that demonstrate core competencies and a connection to key theories and concepts.
Goals
When I began the MET program, I had a few simple goals. It had been four years since I had been a classroom teacher, and I felt a bit out of the loop, especially in regards to educational technologies. I wanted to situate myself within the current landscape of educational technology and forecast where education was headed.
01
Immersion
To immerse myself in a community of educators and professionals and explore current and emerging technology trends in K-12 and post-secondary education contexts.
02
Definition
To define my key values and beliefs about education as I encounter new concepts and learning theories and discover areas of research interest.
03
Progression
To strengthen existing skills and competencies and develop new ones such as remote communication and collaboration, and technical, creative and pedagogical skills.
